Event Details
Diana Butler Bass A conversation event with Diana Butler Bass (author and expert on religion in American) about hope, and the capacity for the renewed practice of Christianity in 'mainline' congregations.

This Conversation is geared toward mainline church leaders, emerging church leaders and seminarians.

We will explore the changes that have had an impact on mainline churches and the ways in which vital congregations are responding to cultural change as a way of renewal and how emerging church insights might be incorporated into traditional churches.

Within the larger topic, we look at the need for structural and spiritual change, issues of tradition (the definitions and uses of tradition in congregations), the practices that make for congregational renewal and contextual mission, and the larger setting of cultural, political, and social justice commitments in congregations.

This conversation event, is a ideal way to gain exposure to Diana's extensive study and research on ways of 'practicing faith' with integrity, and to explore new insights for the renewal of mission and ministry in your congregation.

“BOOK JACKETChurch renewal isn’t only about the dramatic and large-scale. It’s about transformations quietly maturing in local communities nourished by profound prayer, pastoral commitment and imagination, and readiness to learn from a wide spectrum of Christian wisdom. This excellent and timely book celebrates a vastly important phenomenon that has been too little noticed.”

Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury

“This is Diana Butler Bass at her very best -      a warm, candid, totally engaging scholar taking  a look at main-line Christianity in this country    and telling us with gusto why she likes what    she sees. Bravo!”

Phyllis Tickle, religious writer and commentator
